Ozone Sensors CSZT 43-R

CSZT 43-R sensors are membrane sensors intended for ozone measurement in water and also for simultaneous temperature measurement.

The ozone section of the CSZT-R sensor is made up of a polarizing platinum electrode and non-polarizing argent chloride electrode.

Both electrodes are submerged in electrolyte and separated from the measured medium by a separating membrane, which is permeable to ozone (also permeable for other gases - O2, Cl2 etc.). By the application of a suitable polarizing voltage between the electrodes ozone reduction occurs on the cathode surface. The result of this reaction is an electric current between the sensor electrodes, which is proportional to the partial pressure of ozone.

Ozone sensors, when active, consume ozone, which is taken out of the measured medium. All factors influencing the speed of diffusion toward the cathode surface are therefore applied during measurement.

The sensor current is influenced by temperature, which have to be compensated for in the controller.
